Flin Flon,"The City Built on Rocks" is located 800 kilometres northwest of Winnipeg, in the heart of Northern Manitoba's lake country. You can access our dreamland by commercial jet with daily flights out of Winnipeg's International Airport or experience the spectacular variety of scenery and the unique topography of "The Great Pre'Cambrian Shield"!! Highway 10 from southern Manitoba and the Hanson Lake Road from the west will lead you to this picturesque land of lakes, forests and the majestic rocks North of the 54th parallel!

Proud of being the only city in the world named for a science-fiction character, the Flin Flon Chamber of Commerce had a statue constructed. The 24 foot high Flintabbatey Flonatin, character from the novel, "The Sunless City'; stands in the Flin Flon Tourist Park, visible to all who enter the city on Highway# 10.

Known as being in the middle of the land of clear water, Flin Flon boasts of having some of the best game and waterfowl hunting and of course, the greatest year round fishing in all Manitoba! If you enjoy fishing or are out to catch the "BIG ONE'; Flin Flon is the place to be. The many lakes that surround Flin Flon offer Northern Pike, Walleye and Lake Trout.

Hudbay, the city's main industry began copper production in 1933 and has turned out to be one of the richest mineral finds in Canadian history as well as the largest copper mine in Manitoba. Flin Flon has help Hudbay build a solid foundation for the mine-building expertise and community engagement that distinguish them to this day. Hudbay's 777 mine (copper, zinc, gold, silver) in Flin Flon is approaching the end of its mine life after 15 stellar years. Final production is anticipated in 2022. Flin Flon helped shape Hudbay’s values of dignity and respect, caring, openness and trust, which reflects how they will manage the closure and support for the community.

The Flin Flon Trout Festival is held the weekend of July 1st and includes a Fishing Derby, Fish Fry, Canoe Races and Main Street Days and so much more!
